Another major area of progress Africa has made is in the rising levels of democracy and political stability. Often the perception of what is happening varies wildly from those
on the ground making investments, to those outside. The perception gap is receding
as international investors see relatively smooth transitions of power in Gambia and Nigeria, as two examples, and AVCA hopes this process will continue with forthcoming elections.
A key part of what AVCA does, and what will help attract private equity investment, is working with policy makers to ensure that African countries have the right regulatory
