Despite having probably its strongest year
to date in 2014, African private equity and foreign investment looks to be returning
to former strengths. Some of the major macroeconomic challenges that have a icted the continent look to be levelling out and with the Western world going through what could be described as political uncertainty with
the Brexit referendum and Donald Trump’s
election as President, Africa is seeking to a rm its place as the ‘go to’ emerging market for both foreign and transnational investment.
This issue we focus on di erent types of  nance houses operating across sub-Saharan Africa. Our lead interview is a discussion with Investec Asset Management’s African private equity head Peter Baird on the prospects for the continent and what key growth trends the investment giant is looking at. The African Private Equity and Venture Capital Association outline how Africa can continue on the growth trajectory and sure up its regulatory environment to attract more investment.
