Mozambique’s economy has slowed in
the last two years, and with GDP growth slipping to 3.3% in 2016, down from 6.6% the previous year, but the nation still maintains one of the highest GDP growth rates in sub- Saharan Africa.
Socio-economic development in Mozambique only took o  after its long and costly civil war ended in 1992. By the turn of the millennium, a strong national energy sector emerged, which helped deliver a decade of remarkable annual economic growth above 7% until 2015.
